The TCHS theme for this year is: Anchored to Hope, based on Hebrews 6:19a.
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."
This theme was selected based on student feedback. It is a pertinent theme in that we are establishing a culture and laying a foundation for Taber Christian High school. The hope we have is the hope in Christ. We acknowledge Him as Lord of all, and in Him we have hope for life!
The anchor is fitting in that it keeps us from getting blown around by various "winds". It prevents us from bottoming out and it is something that we know we can rely on.
In moving forward as a school, we know that we are called to do more than "hunker down". Here again the image of an anchor is fitting, as we know the only way an anchor works is to 'let it go'. An anchor does no good if it is kept close...it needs to be released.
In many ways we need to let go. Jesus says in Matthew 16b: "Whoever loses their life for my sake will find it". While working hard to plan, teach, facilitate etc. are important parts of this year, our efforts will only bear fruit when blessed by God. Therefore we dedicate our school, this year and beyond, to serving Him in all we do.
